In an attempt to become “a niche manufacturer” Mitsubishi intend to offer a brand new SUV every year, until 2021.
Of the first will be the B-SUV, based on the eX study, which will be similarly sized to the Nissan Juke. It’s expected to launch in 2018, with full-electric power, and petrol and diesel versions are likely to follow.
A new Pajero/ Shogun/ Montero is expected in about four years time, based on the L200, but with different body panels, interior and suspension. According AutoExpress, quoting UK Mitsubishi boss Lance Bradley, the 7-seater will “look like an SUV” and it will sit above the Shogun Sport, similarly to what Land Rover did with the Discovery and Discovery Sport.
There will also be a new crossover new crossover, based on the XR-PHEV II study seen at Geneva, in 2015 that used a small petrol unit and a 120kW electric motor.
