Although Mazda only revealed its new CX-5 at the LA Auto Show two weeks ago, production of the new crossover has already begun.
In Hiroshima yesterday the first few CX-5s rolled off the assembly line yesterday at Mazda’s Ujina Plant No. 2 near the company’s Japanese headquarters.
Destined for the Japanese domestic market, the first cars where clad in the model’s signature Soul Red Crystal hue. The CX-5 will go on sale in Japan in February before being exported around the world.
The first-generation CX-5 was reached the million-made mark in April 2015, after five years of production – making it the second-fastest-selling model after the Mazda3. One in every four Mazdas sold is a CX-5.
