A spy photo of a near production ready version of the upcoming Audi Q8 has been posted by a member of the AutoPareri forum.
This is the first time that rear design is visible with no camouflage. It features sleek taillights, a roof spoiler, and a huge bumper diffuser with two integrated exhaust pipes.
When comparing the Q8 Concept (in blue) with the spy photo, it seems that the German automaker will be sticking quite closely to the study in terms of design. It will be interesting to see if the final production model will retain the concept’s reflector LED strip connecting the taillights and whether the diffuser remains slightly less aggressive, as pictured in the spy pic.
Set to become Audi’s flagship SUV, the Q8 will borrow its the MLB Evo platform and technologies from the Q7 and the next-generation Volkswagen Touareg.
Engine options remain unconfirmed but are expected to mirror those on the Q7. This means the model could be offered with a 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder developing 188 kW and 370 Nm of torque as well as a 3.0-liter TFSI V6 producing 248 kW 440Nm of torque. There may well also be a plug-in hybrid variant and a high-performance RS Q8.
Production of the Q8 is scheduled to start next year at Volkswagen Group’s plant in Bratislava, Slovakia.
