Auto Express is reporting that the Suzuki Grand Vitara will be phased out in the UK, with no new model on the horizon. The little Alto city car will apparently also be axed.
Once existing stock of the Grand Vitara has been sold in the UK, that will be the end of the SUV – at least in Britain. There are apparently no plans for a replacement, meaning that the SX4 will become the largest AWD vehicle that the company offers in the UK.
Suzuki recently also teased a new small crossover concept that will revive the Vitara nameplate (without the Grand). It will be officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October, and will be available in AWD.
What does this news mean for South Africa?
Megan MacDonald, Assistant Marketing and PR Manager for Suzuki Auto SA has stated that there are no plans at this stage to discontinue the Grand Vitara locally, so we’ll luckily still have the Suzuki with us for a while.
