One of Volvo’s most luxurious cars ever, the XC90 Excellence, is now available locally and is priced at R 1 550 000.
The XC90 Excellence is fitted with the T8 Twin Engine drivetrain. This is a combination of the super- and turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylider petrol engine that delivers 235 kW and 400Nm to power the front wheels, via an 8-speed Geartronic transmission and the 65 kW and 240Nm electric motor powering the rear wheels – enabling all-wheel drive when necessary. Total output is 300kW and 640Nm.
Some of the features of this luxurious vessel include heating, ventilation and massage functionality for all four seats (the third row of seats has been removed). The two rear seats also have full electric adjustment. Cup holders are heated and cooled, and a refrigerator is located between the two rear seats and the vehicle comes with not only a Orrefors crystal gear selector but two crystal champagne flutes too.
Driving dynamics are enhanced by the standard fitment of four-corner air suspension and the Excellence comes standard with 21-inch alloys.
There’s Head-Up Display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 9-inch touch screen infotainment interface that can be used to control among other things the Bowers & Wilkins sound system. Satellite navigation, smartphone integration radio, USB, DVD and Bluetooth all form part of the package.
Besides the usual comprehensive saftey suite are features such as, Pilot Assist for semi-autonomous driving up to 130 km/h, 360-degree HD camera, a blind spot information system, autonomous emergency braking, pedestrian, cyclist and large animal detection and whiplash protection.
