Foton will be introducing its new SUV, called the Sauvana, to the SA market next year. The model name is derived from the Spanish word “savannah”, which means a tropical plateau, and emphasises the vehicle’s go-anywhere capability.
The Sauvana will use the same 2,8-litre Cummunis turbocharged diesel, chassis and running gear as the Tunland bakkie, which has been available in SA since 2012.
It will be available with either a five-speed manual, or six-speed automatic transmission. Both five and seven-seat version will be available.
Standard features include leather seats, an infotainment touchscreen and steering wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls. Luxury features extend to keyless entry and keyless starting, sunroof, automatic climate and cruise control.
