Google developing new pothole detection system

Google has announced that it’s working on a new, innovative system for pothole detection.

The system uses a GPS system and a movement sensor. When the vehicle detects a pothole, it notes the exact location and uploads it to a server where others can access the information. Google hopes to create a database that shows the average quality of a road, which will eventually lead to a GPS system that can give the driver alternative routes to avoid the bad roads.

Let’s hope this system works and that it will eventually find its way to SA.
