Hyundai SA has added an entry-level diesel derivative to its iX35 range.
The 1,7-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel develops 85kW and 260Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Hyundai claims a very impressive fuel consumption of 6,5l/100km on the combined cycle, but only 50ppm diesel may be used in this particular model.
The power is sent to the front wheels only, which means one won’t be straying too far off the road in this derivative. It should, however, still be a decent companion on gravel roads.
This derivative is available in Premium specification only, but you do get every necessary luxury included as standard.
The 1,7-litre diesel retails for R359 900 and come as standard with Hyundai’s five-year/150 000km warranty and five-year/90 000km service plan.
