First introduced at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, Jeep’s Cherokee Night Eagle edition is set to go on sale later this week in the UK for £36 795 (roughly R800 000).
The Night Eagle is based on the Longitude ‘Plus’ mid-trim model and features a sort of dark personality – perhaps not your average Gotham City ride, although not entirely out of place if you go with the Brilliant Black or Billet Silver – with black styling accents. The windows are properly tinted and the Night Eagle features 18″ black gloss alloys and black gloss roof bars, while the grey elements include the front grille-mounted Jeep badge and fog light frames.
With only 350 Night Eagles going on sale in the UK Damien Dally, head of brand at Jeep UK, described the car as, “Full of style, loaded with equipment and designed to enhance Cherokee’s already strong appeal, the new Night Eagle version is particularly exclusive,” adding that the car will surely “appeal to a whole new group of Jeep customers.”
The 2.2-liter MultiJet II turbo-diesel unit is mated to Jeep’s nine-speed automatic transmission and Active Drive I 4×4 system. Pushing out 150kW, it will reach 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds before maxing out at 204 km/h.
Inside you’ll find leather upholstery, heated front seats with electric lumbar support on the driver’s seat, Uconnect with 8.4″ screen and sat nav, a nine-speaker sound system and dual-zone climate control. Cruise control, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights with washer, rain sensing wipers and power folding mirrors are all part of the package too.
