As part of Land Rover South Africa’s corporate and social responsibility aspirations for the year – under the banner of Hope Crosses Any Terrain – Land Rover has launched the Land Rover and Red Cross Hope Box campaign, which will run till the end of August.
In line with Jaguar Land Rover’s global objectives is to create opportunities for 12 million people by 2020, through improving lives and advancing knowledge, Hope Boxes have been stationed at Jaguar Land Rover dealerships across the country. Each Hope Box will be filled with essential items to be distributed to local communities by the South African Red Cross Society (SARCS).
The Hope Box is a bespoke container, custom made to fit in the back of a Land Rover Discovery Sport. Along with prominent Red Cross and Hope Crosses Any Terrain branding on the boxes, each Discovery Sport also has decals to drive awareness of the initiative.
“Land Rover and Red Cross have worked together for many years, with our vehicles helping the team at SARCS deliver aid to remote areas all over the country,” said Richard Gouverneur, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and sub-Sahara Africa. “With the Hope Boxes we have tailored a solution that works perfectly with one of our vehicles to help drive awareness for a very worthy cause.”
Participating dealerships around the country will have a Hope Box inside a Discovery Sport, which will be accessible from the dealership floor. Jaguar Land Rover staff, businesses, customers and members of the public are encouraged to fill the boxes with donations of essential items: tinned food, clothing, blankets, towels, toiletries and educational items for children.
The Red Cross will collect the contents of each Hope Box, once full – while the Hope Boxes will remain with dealerships to continue the collection drive. Local communities all around the country will benefit from the donations. Additionally, staff from Jaguar Land Rover South Africa’s head office will visit a school supported by the Red Cross, to hand out everyday necessities that were collected in the Head Office donation drive. The team will also hand out Hope Crosses Any Terrain educational packs comprising books and stationery to help improve the learning experience for pupils.
Jaguar Land Rover South Africa has a long-standing relationship with SARCS. They have collaborated on a number of projects. Last year Land Rover and the Red Cross assisted rural communities by providing access to HIV and tuberculosis treatments, improving the quality of life for 50 612 people. And that number is set to grow for 2016, through Hope Crosses Any Terrain initiatives like the Hope Box – edging ever closer to Jaguar Land Rover’s worldwide goal of changing 12-million lives by 2020.
