In October we ran the entry competition to the Toyota Fortuner 4×4 Challenge along with CAR and Getaway magazine, so that together we could select a winner that would represent RamsayMedia in the finals.
In the final competition each team comprised a sports hero (Giniel de Villiers, Andrew Mclean, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Rayno Benjamin) paired with a competition entrant. Our entrant was Danie Leonard and yesterday, 16 November, he joined passionate cyclist Andrew Mclean (director of Cycle Lab) to take part in the extremely challenging Toyota Fortuner 4×4 Challenge in Knysna.
Task 5 is raising the stakes! Teams will do a trail run & end with abseiling down to the cliff base. The fastest team wins. Who will it be? pic.twitter.com/8ZWxjQ0H3z

The competition was broken down into seven sections, namely:
Orienteering (GPS and all that, on the beach – our lads aced it)
Cooking (Masterchef type challenge, our guys braaied a piece of kudu)
Golf (don’t ask)
Car tetris (arranging cars to move one car through as line of cars)
Running (including abseiling)
Canoeing (which our lads aced – that canoe looked like a motorboat!)
Mountain biking (which our lads smoked too)
Votes for most popular celebrity (a million votes cast, but in this case we didn’t have the majority)
Although the Toyota auditors have yet to release the official breakdown, they have confirmed that our team won five of the seven challenges. The result: Danie Leonard, Deputy Headmaster at Glenwood House Preparatory School (did we mention that he is extremely fit and competitive too) walks away with a brand new Toyota Fortuner 2.8 GD-6. Congratulations!
Danie prepares for the cycling leg of the competition (above).
