Mahindra has introduced its new bakkie to South Africa, named the ‘Mahindra Pick Up,’ following on from the previous version known as the ‘Mahindra Scorpio Pick Up’.
The Pick Up is powered by an updated 2.2- litre four-cylinder mHawk turbodiesel engine that produces 103kW of power and 320Nm of torque, linked to a six-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels. The bakkie and will also be available with 4×4 transmission with low range. The entire range of the is fitted with a MLD (Mechanical Locking Differential) as standard.
The flagship model of the range, the S10 Double Cab gets features such as remote central locking, cruise control, a six-inch colour touchscreen display with navigation and a multifunction steering wheel, as well as automatic windscreen wipers.
Mahindra says that the cabin upholstery has been upgraded and the redesigned front-end of the vehicle is accompanied by 16-inch alloy wheels.
Safety includes ABS, EBD, dual airbags, crash protection crumple zones and a collapsible steering column, however these are not standard on the entry level S4 Single Cab.

All models have a four-year /120 000 km warranty and roadside assistance, while all derivatives except the entry-level S4 Single Cab feature a five-year/ 90 000km service plan. Services are at 20 000km intervals or every 12 months.
