The Mercedes X-Class is being launched in South Africa this week, just as a Spanish car magazine released the results of the now infamous moose test.

This test is fairly extreme, as it requires swerving to the right and then immediately to the left at speeds of up to 70km/h.
At up to 69km/h the X-Class was able to miss all the cones, but at speeds higher than that it started clipping them.
This result is considered very good, but not as good as the Ford Ranger and Mitsubishi Triton. These two bakkies managed 71km/h without hitting cones.
Still, the Mercedes’ result is considered a pass.
We’ll give you more X-Class news, including a local driving impression, within the next few days.
