Audi has announced that it will add no less than 11 new models to its line-up over the next few years, upping its model range from 49 to 60 vehicles. And a large portion of these new vehicles will apparently be SUVs.
“We will expand our product range from the current 49 to 60 models. We see a great deal of potential, particularly in the SUV segment and in the especially prestigious full-size category,” said Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG.
An Audi Q1 has already been announced, but it now seems likely that we will soon see a Q2, Q4, Q6 and perhaps even a Q8 as well. BMW has proven that there is big money to be made with niche SUVs, and Audi will apparently now join Mercedes-Benz in creating a full range of BMW X-range rivals.
The X6, and soon to arrive X4, won’t have those niche-busting segments to themselves for very long. Audi is officially throwing its hat into the ring…
