Subaru has unveiled the all-new Legacy Outback at the New York Motor Show.
As we predicted earlier this month, the Outback is basically a Legacy station wagon with a higher ground clearance and a few aggressive styling touches. We think it looks great, with just enough aggression, mixed in with a healthy dose of elegance.
Specification levels for SA models aren’t clear yet, but we can tell you that it has 221mm ground clearance, Subaru’s famed symmetrical all-wheel drive and 17-or 18-inch alloy wheels.
At launch only two engines will be available – a 2,5 litre four-cylinder petrol with 130kW and 235Nm on tap and 3,6-litre six-cylinder petrol engine producing 191kW and 334Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a Lineartronic CVT gearbox.
We’re sure a turbodiesel model will join the line-up in due course.
The new Outback will only be launched in SA sometime in 2015.
