Porsche has big plans in store for its new entry-level SUV, the Macan.
According to Reuters, Porsche is looking at increasing its planned production figure from 50 000 to 80 000 units per year.
Porsche is definitely rolling the dice on this one. It’s set to compete in the same segment as the BMW X3 and Mercedes GLK, but it’s priced closer to the X5 and Mercedes ML. In the US and UK, where the pricing details have been released, the Macan is more expensive than even its bigger brother, the Cayenne.
The Audi Q5 based SUV is going to be one of the top models to keep an eye on in 2014.
It’s either going to be a big flop, or a massive sales success for the brand. Considering Porsche’s current reputation for building only exceptional vehicles, we’re betting on the latter.
