Renault South Africa recently gave its Koleos SUV a proper overhaul.
The front now features Renault’s new design language, which means the badge is prominently positioned on an all-new chrome grille. Bumpers and side mouldings are body-coloured and the door mirror housings are now equipped with LED indicators. To complete the look, the Koleos now comes as standard with two-tone 17-inch alloy wheels.
The interior features charcoal leather upholstery, heated front seats and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat. Top-of-the-range fitments and features include leather steering wheel and gear knob, satin chrome door handles, electric windows throughout, Renault keycard and remote central locking.
The list of convenience features includes an electronic park brake, hill start assist, cruise control, dual-zone air-conditioning, rear parking sensors and automatic rain-sensing wipers. The Koleos is also one of the safest SUVs around, with a five-star Euro NCAP rating.
Renault’s new in-dash R-Link navigation and media system is now standard across the range. This system features real time traffic optimisation and high definition maps.
The Koleos is powered by a 2,5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine producing 126kW and 226Nm of torque. Renault claims a combined fuel consumption figure of 9,6 l/100km.
The ground-clearance of 206mm has been carried over from the previous model, while the all-wheel drive system (standard on 4×4 models) features three driver-selected modes (Auto, 4×4 lock, or 2WD) and hill descent control.
The Koleos comes with Renault’s five-year/150 000km mechanical warranty, plus a five-year/100 000km service plan and a six-year anti-corrosion warranty. Services are at 15 000km intervals. Prices range from R309 900 for the entry-level 2,5 Dynamique manual 4×2 to R349 900 for the Dynamique automatic 4×4.
