This short little Volkswagen bus was originally built in 1986 and two years ago it was restored by a company in the United States known as Gas Monkey Garage. Now it is heading for Las Vegas to be auctioned off.
The crew at Gas Monkey Garage, under the direction of Richard Rawlings revamped everything, from the exterior and interior to the engine and suspension.
Rust and marks were removed and it was re-coated with the original white over baby blue paint job. New headlights and taillights were also installed, and the chrome bumpers were completely refinished.
The little bus is now fitted with a powerful 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired to a new four-speed manual transmission and the interior was finished with white plastic with accenting Black Mountain cloth seats.
Although auctioneers Barrett-Jackson says the bus is “intended for show and display use” only, it is completely drivable and street legal. It goes on auction on 13 October with no reserve.
