Land Rover made just 400 special Heritage Edition Defenders in 2015, including the one bought by famous British actor Rowan Atkinson. It may look older than it is because it is inspired by early Land Rover models.
This Heritage Edition Defender 90 model (there were Heritage Edition Defender 110 models) which Mr Atkinson is selling mixes nostalgic design cues with modern creature comforts, and is immediately identifiable through its distinctive Grasmere Green paintwork and a contrasting white roof. Additional heritage touches include a classic design grille and HUE 166 graphics, recalling the registration plate of the first ever pre-production Land Rover.
Inside, there are an cloth seats with vinyl sides and backs, an aluminium clock, aluminium door handles and perforated leather on the steering wheel, gear stick and handbrakea nd upgraded DBS stereo. Outside Atkinson’s Landie there are,mud flaps, a tow bar and and special dog guard.
JLR charged £27 800 (R46 0427) for these when they were new, but Silverstone Auctions expects Rowan Atkin’s aka Mr Bean’s one one to fetch between £38 000 and £45 000 (about R629 400 and R745 300) – because of its rarity and celebrity ownership.
