South Africa’s cheapest SUV

The Zotye Nomad, as it is now called, is available with either a 1,3-litre petrol or a 1,5-litre petrol engine, both linked to a five-speed manual gearbox. Unfortunately neither features a 4×4 drivetrain, but are both driven by the rear wheels only. The high ground clearance of the Terios remains, though. There is the chance of more models being added to the range later in the year, including 4x4s.

The presence of ABS braking with EBD is impressive, and other features include an air conditioner, power steering, electric windows and mirrors, central locking with remote keyless entry and a CD front loader.

Prices are R119 995 for the 1.3 4×2 and R139 995 for the 1.5 4×2. The Nomad will come with a one-year roadside assistance plan, a three-year/75 000km service plan and a three-year/100 000km factory warranty.
