Toyota RAV4 VX models get some enhancements

Toyota South Africa have made some changes to the top-of-the-range RAV4 VX model.

The focus of the VX upgrade is the addition of extra safety features such as Lane Change Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) and a Cross Traffic Alert function that warns the driver of approaching vehicles when ‘alley docking’.

VX buyers have a choice between a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 132kW and 233Nm and a  2.2-litre diesel variant that delivers 110 kW and 340 Nm. Both of these engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with driver-selectable AWD.

Other chanfges to the VX models include new foot-well lighting and the removal of the previously standard sunroof.

The rest of the model line-up continues as before with three engines (two petrol and one diesel) and both 2WD and AWD derivatives on offer.

2.0-litre petrol – 107 kW, 187 Nm
2.2-litre diesel – 110 kW, 340 Nm
2.5-litre petrol – 132 kW, 233 Nm
