German company Carlex Design recently had its way with a Toyota Hilux which it revealed in October and before that Carlex worked with MS-RT Road Technology to transform a Ford Ranger into what it called the Ranger VR46. Ranger done. Hilux done. Next Carlex turned its attention to this Volkswagen Amarok.
Carlex has not given many detail about the customised Amarok, which seems to have been dubbed ‘Amy.’ However, the company does state that the interior gets a custom design with ‘leather decorated with unique seams and quilting’ and that the top quality trim ‘has given the vehicle a spot of luxury.’
The exterior has been modified by way of a custom body kit that Carlex says has been manufactured using ‘state-of-the-art reaction injection technology’.
The images show a roof-mounted light-bar, new alloy wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich all-terrain tyres and a fair amount of decals on the body.
There is no clear indication of what engine powers this modified Amarok, but a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel seems most likely, as the VW bakkie uses this engine exclusively in much of Europe.
Carlex Design says that the starting price for this Amarok is €48 650 (roughly R780 000).
