Volkswagen will reportedly be adding a fourth SUV to its line-up, which is currently made up of the Touareg, Tiguan and T-Roc.
According to AutoExpress the newcomer will be a Polo-based crossover and it’s likely to be called the T-Cross.
The Polo SUV will borrow styling cues from the larger T-Roc, such as the grille and larger wheel arches and it will also have a raised ride-height compared with the standard Polo models. It will ride on Volkswagen’s smallest MQB platform and according to AutoExpress, the wheelbase is likely to measure 2 560mm, an increase of 90mm.
There are no engines details yet, but the crossover is likely to house the 81kW 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol unit, mated with a choice of manual or dual clutch automatic transmission.
“Interior quality will be improved slightly, but the biggest tweaks in the cabin are likely to be in connectivity. VW boss Herbert Diess is said to have targeted enhancements in this area for all the brand’s vehicles.”
The baby SUV will compete with cars like the Nissan Juke, Peugeot 2008 and Hyundai Kona.
