The German automakers used the stage of the LA Auto Show to premiere the latest dynamic duo of M high-performance machines, the X5 M and X6 M.
BMW presents the perfectly tuned overall package of engine, powertrain and suspension. The all-wheel-drive vehicles have an even more daunting appearance and boosted output with the evolved V8 4.4-litre M TwinPower Turbo technology. Both vehicles now generate 423kW/750Nm from an eight-speed Steptronic gearbox with Drivelogic and rocket from 0-100km/h in a mere 4.2 seconds. The top speed is limited to 250km.
Lateral dynamics, steering precision and brake performance have also been improved on, while fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are around 20 per cent lower than for the previous models. Both models have an average fuel consumption of 11.1-litres/100km with CO2 emissions calculated at 258 g/km.
Along with riding on 21-inch alloy wheels, the usual M goodies can be expected on the cars such as the M sport steering wheel, door sill plates, also the four-zone climate control system, an aluminum trim and the Harman Kardon sound system.
No word on pricing yet but the X5 M and X6 M is to be available in SA in the second quarter of 2015.
