Russian manufacturer ZIL has created an army vehicle that might just be Russia’s answer to the Humvee.
Although the vehicle is officially just a concept for now, there’s a very good chance that it will end up seeing active duty. The Russian military commissioned ZIL – one of Russia’s oldest manufacturers – to create a Humvee-like vehicle in 2010. The company has been toiling away for four years, and this is the result. Reports suggest that it could be ready for action by 2015.
Sadly, technical info is scarce, but some sources report that the vehicle is powered by a our-cylinder Cummins oil burner that develops around 135 kW of power, and is mated to a five-speed Cummins manual transmission. The vehicle can seat up to ten people.
Based on how it looks, we’re guessing that it will be pretty capable off the beaten path.
