Shane Quinnel and his wife Tarryn make up Team Tane (Tane is a combination of TArryn and ShaNE). These two intrepid adventurers have headed off from Pretoria to climb the five highest peaks in Africa and they plan to get to the foot of these mountains in ‘Badger’ their own Suzuki Jimny 4×4.
These things are never as simple as they seem and this adventure is a comeback of sorts for Shane. (You can read all the details in our current May issue of Leisure Wheels magazine, in store now.)
Back to Badger the Jimny then. Above is a photo of Badger before sponsors Suzuki SA and Opposite Lock got hold of it. Below are pictures of Badger posted by Suzuki SA on the company’s Facebook page.
Shane and Tarryn departed from Pretoria at 4am on 29 April and Shane’s first comments on the Team Tane Facebook page was,”#SuzukiAfricaSkyHigh has officially BEGUN! First sunrise en route to Botswana with Tarryn’s folks after a 4AM start. Its been the busiest week of our lives, so a welcome relief to finally be on the road. Thanks to all who made it happen.” This was posted with the image below.
Today, Day 11 of the adventure, they have reached Livingstone, Zambia. You can follow their live progress via the Tracks 4 Africa feed on their website or keep checking back on the Leisure Wheels website. Just use the #SuzukiAfricaSkyHigh hashtag to search.
