August 2018 Issue
This month, we begin Fuel for thought, an article that will become a monthly feature of our magazine. Tired of exaggerated claims of frugal consumption, we’ve decided to conduct our own tests, beginning with the cheapest double cab bakkie on the market: the Changan 1.3l.
Our features are always top-notch, even if we say so ourselves, and this month is no different. This time round, we’re off to Namibia to catch up with well known Dr Philip Stander, the Lion Man of the Namib. If that’s not enough lions for you, make sure you read our Campfire tale… it’s a goodie.
We’re also in Swaziland, sorry, make that eSwatini, where we explore what our neighbour has to offer in VW’s Tiguan Allspace and there’s a trip to Slovenia for a drive in a Mercedes-Benz 190kW X350d 4Matic bakkie. And if you were thinking of having a quiet weekend, our story about legendary amputee mountain biker Reuben van Niekerk will hopefully inspire you to get outside and do something or go somewhere.
In addition to all our regulars, we interviewed ultra-distance runner Ryan Sandes, drove Carnage Canyon and caught up with the Toyota 1000 Desert Race to see if anyone could stop Toyota in the Cross Country Chamionship.
