July 2016 Issue

This month we test the new Fiat Fullback, the Italian bakkie that recently landed in South Africa and see if it really can put up a decent fight against the Hilux and the Ranger.

Toyota’s new Hilux 2.8GD-6 bakkie is selling up a storm since its introduction here in March. However there is another bakkie that possibly trumps this Toyota: the Toyota Hilux 2.4GD-6. We take the 2.4-litre double-cab to Namibia to see just what it can do.

We also beefed up a Mini and turned it into a 4WD off-road go-kart and took it for a spin. For those bakkie drag-racing enthusiasts, we got into the 327kW RGMotorsport Toyota Hilux V6 and found out just how much power this brute of a machine has…

When it comes to our long-term vehicles, we say goodbye to our Subaru Outback and keep you updated on the Suzuki Jimney 1.3 and VW Amarok 2.0BiTDI D/C 4Motion.

Our Pajero, driven by legendary 4×4 driver and record holder Willie Nel gets a serious workout at the Bridgestone 4×4 Challenge and our retro drive features SA’s home-grown 4×4, the SVM 3000 V6.

We test two-way radios, take a look at some unusual outdoor gear and scout a route on the Wild Coast between Mazeppa Bay and Morgan Bay.

Finally, our tech feature takes a look at the ins and outs of torque vectoring.
