Dakar 2017, stage 4 summary – car and bike
The Dakar drama continues… stage 4 of the legendary race was another eventful one. Many teams got lost, with some of the top Peugeot crews losing bags of time and driver Carlos Sainz retiring after he went off the road. Giniel de Villiers (Toyota Hilux) clawed back some time and is now in 7th place overall. Third on this stage was Nani Roma (Toyota Hilux) while former WRC driver Mikko Hirvonen (Mini) claimed second place. Winning the stage was Dakar motorcycle legend Cyril Despres (Peugeot), putting his years of navigational experience to good use here.
