Volkswagen’s Amarok Canyon special edition, which was first unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show, and also made an appearance at last year’s Johannesburg International Motor Show, will hopefully make its way to SA in the third quarter of this year.
It’s been announced that the Amarok Canyon will officially go in sale in the UK on 1 April 2014, and that VWSA is also looking to bring a derivative of this special edition Amarok to South Africa by the third quarter of 2014.
When news was released that the Canyon is heading for the UK, we asked Volkswagen South Africa whether we can hope to ever see it in SA. “We’re looking to release a derivative of the Canyon Amarok Special Edition locally in the third quarter of this year.”
Although we are used to seeing the Canyon in orange (VW calls it Copper Orange), it will also be available in Deep Black and Reflex Silver.
The Canyon is essentially a Trendline 4×4 Amarok, though it has a bunch of special accessories such as 19-inch rims, shiny bash plates and a matt black roll bar.
Inside, the Canyon boasts Nappa and Vienna leather upholstery in two-tone Moonrock and Anthracite, and there’s a leather steering wheel and gear knob with orange stitching. When ordered in Copper Orange, the air vent surrounds are matched to the vehicle’s exterior color, while on the Deep Black and Reflex Silver models, the air vent surrounds are in Matt Chrome.
More importantly, though, the Canyon has a satellite navigation system with six-inch screen, heated seats and front and rear parking sensors.
