Reports on various websites suggest that Aston Martin has taken out a massive 165 million GBP loan to develop new models.
The first model to be developed using this influx of cash, is the Lagonda SUV.
The Lagonda will likely use the same platform as the next Mercedes-Benz GL, as Aston Martin is currently involved in a technical partnership with the German brand.
This makes Aston the latest luxury marque to enter the luxury SUV battle. Other luxury brands who have stated their intent to build and SUV include Bentley, Rolls Royce and even Lamborghini.
Not to be outdone by their Italian and English neighbours, BMW seems to be planning an X7. It hasn’t been confirmed yet, but www.autoblog.com has reported that BMW’s plant in South Carolina is being prepared in anticipation of this new model. It’s expected to be announced within a few weeks.
