British motoring magazine CAR is reporting that we can see the Volkswagen Beetle Dune going on sale as early as 2016.
According to the mag, Volkswagen’s board has approved production of the vehicle, which is essentially a beefed-up sort of almost-an-SUV version of the Beetle. It will apparently be 2800 EUR more than the standard model.
The Beetle Dune might look beefier and sport a higher ride height, but it will remain 2WD.
No details on the engine line-up yet.
The Dune is reportedly one of a number of Beetle spin-offs that VW have in the pipeline – similar to what BMW is doing with the Mini range.
