Last week Leisure Wheels reported on the spied 4×4 version of the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6, it has now been confirmed the model will go into production and be launched “soon”.
In a report by CarAdvice who had the chance of interviewing Mercedes-AMG CEO Tobias Moers, at the LA Auto Show recently, Moers confirmed a four-wheel version of the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6.
There should be a considerable weight difference from the 3,850 kg 6×6 as the second rear axle has been removed with the likeliness of the same 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces a whopping 400kW and 758Nm of torque through the 7G-TRONIC transmission.
Production of the 6×6 version is limited to 20-30 cars a year and available in select markets only. In Germany the 2015 model has a starting price of €456,900, that’s just over R6 million! The four-wheel sibling will be less but expected to still be over the €400,000 (R5,5 million) mark.
