After 68 years of production, the iconic Land Rover Defender was phased out in January last year, but according to the British marque we can expect the new, tough as nails, Defender in 2018.
Head of design at Jaguar Land Rover headquarters, Gerry McGovern commenting at the Automotive News conference in Barcelona recently said that the new Defender will not just be an updated version of the old Defender that meets regulatory standards and although it would remain true to the previous models. The new model’s appearance will retain an emotional connection with the old Defender but the design and appearance must appeal to a younger generation of buyers.
McGovern reassured those present that the new Defender would be a tough vehicle like the original. “You’ll be able kick the hell out of them and they’ll get up for more.”
