We don’t typically get ice on South African roads but in the US it happens frequently in winter. Black ice is virtually invisible to drivers and it’s extremely dangerous, as the person behind the wheel of this red Jeep Grand Cherokee found out.
The incident occurred on New Year’s Eve in Abilene, Texas where temperatures have dipped below freezing a few times in recent weeks, according to the description.
The SUV crossed in front of a vehicle fitted with a dashcam and then spun around 360-degrees twice before the driver managed to regain a measure of control, gently sliding the car back towards the first lane, and continuing on their journey.
Fortunately the avoided crashing and although probably shaken, the driver ( and possibly occupants) could continue on as if nothing had happened.
