Volkswagen chose the Festival of Motoring to introduce the locally-inspired and built Vivo Dune.
Volkswagen says it’s inspired by South Africa’s diverse landscapes, specifically the beautiful but also dry and harsh mountainous regions such as the Great Karoo and the Kalahari Desert. This defined the Vivo Dune’s exterior colour and trim for the vehicle, as well as how the vehicle was built.
As such, the Dune features a number of upgrades to customised paint, a roof rack with integrated an LED light bar, a snorkel, underbody protection, side styling bars and a set of chunky off-road tyres.
Interior design highlights include dash trim inserts in customised colour, accent stitching, off-road navigation, customised trim panels multi-function steering wheel, two-way radio and sport pedals. The seats in ‘Sun City‘ Orange leather with ‘Dune‘ embroidery add to the appeal of the car.
The Vivo Dune concept car was hand built by Volkswagen’s Product Engineering team under the leadership of Dr Joost Kessels.
The Vivo Dune concept car is purely a concept car and will not go on sale, it will be housed at Volkswagen’s AutoPavilion museum in Uitenhage. Certain elements of the Vivo Dune are being investigated for production in the near future.
