April 2018 Issue

This month, we decided to take a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 3.0D-4D VX-L on a little road trip around South Africa. But when we say around South Africa, we really mean it: we skirted the borders of the entire country, taking 86 hours to complete a full lap.

While we’ve been patting ourselves on the back for our Around SA in 86 hours trip, a South African family has been travelling around the world in their Land Rover Defender.

Keeping with our around the world theme, we interview a young German lad who has also decided to explore the planet… although he’s doing it on a bicycle.

That’s enough surely? Not quite. We also feature a trip to Liuwa Plains and Kasanka National Parks in Zambia, where we witnessed the annual bat migration.

In addition to these stories, we test the Kia Sportage 1.7CRDi and ask whether it’s the best Sportage of the lot; we look at some of history’s ugliest cars; and we try and get a better understanding of automatic terrain response systems.
