December 2019 Issue

There are some stunning images in our mag this month, from Austria to Angola, from Moolmanshoek to Bengaluru. And that’s not even mentioning our Photo Focus section.

Let’s start in Austria where we discover the Dolomites mountain range on a Ducati. There were sweeping roads, there were gorgeous views, there was a tumble and there was snow.

Angola is not mentioned in our mag too much which we admit, is a pity, because it is well worth the visit. As part of the 10 million Toyota Land Cruisers sold festivities, we headed to Death’s Door, okay, not exactly, but we did visit the Doodsakker or Death’s Acre. Some people struggle to complete this challenge. We did it twice in 24 hours, once in the dark.

Before the Kia Seltos reaches these shores, we headed to India to check out the brand’s new compact SUV. And everything you’ve heard about how crazy the Indian roads are? Multiply that by 10. Thankfully they didn’t make us drive it in any of the big cities.

Our last feature saw us head to the middle of nowhere to complete the DVR Falls route. Never heard of it? Neither had we, so we had to check it out. Only one 4×4 was rolled on our adventure.

All our journos were pretty busy with all these things this month so it fell to our esteemed sub editor, Alan, to fly the Leisure Wheels flag at the Atlantis Dunes 4×4 Fun Day. Alan has limited 4x4ing experience. How would he far when surrounded by some of the country’s greatest off-road drivers? Well he may have broken a flag or two.

As usual, there’s News, Kingsley and Voetspore, our Adventurer Interview and all our other regulars. The November issue of Leisure Wheels is on sale now – don’t miss it!
