February 2019 Issue

Having fun is important at Leisure Wheels, which is why, every now and again, we like to take a step out of our comfort zone and do something different, scary or silly. You can decide which of these three describes our trip up the Breedtsnek Pass in a Bajaj Qute. For a feel for what it was like (and a picture of Deputy Editor Gerhard Horn sporting what has to be a contender for the biggest smile ever) be sure not to miss this one.

We head to Rwanda to continue our Beyond the Rift Valley story and find out what happened to Peter and Jacques in their African adventure and there’s also a piece on the Northern Tuli Game Reserve.

While our Isuzu Great Adventure Series is coming to its end, there was nevertheless plenty of action and fun to be had before things get really serious in the upcoming issues.

How would you celebrate your 50th birthday? One reader decided to visit all 50 of South Africa’s lighthouses and tells us how he did so in Part 1 of our two-part feature.

Our regulars are all present, with our Buying Used section looking at single cab workhorses and our Tech section looking at LED tech. The list of cars we’ve tested in our Fuel for Thought section is growing so fast we’ve had to exclude some from our list. We do have a new leader, however, so check that out.

Our Gear sections this month focus on electric SUVs and wireless earphones while our Voetspore and Kingsley Holgate columns bookend an interesting interview with Fiat Crysler Auto’s PR manager Lesley Sutton.

We continue with our review of the country’s campsites, this month visiting White Lady Lodge in Namibia.
