We know most people will know the answer to that is yes, but there is a small pool of people who still believe that airbags and seatbelts don’t matter.
In case you need proof, have a look at this Latin NCAP test of a Mitsubishi L200, known locally as the Triton.
Latin America does not require manufacturers to include airbags as standard, making it an easy way to bring down the price of a vehicle. One such vehicle is the L200, which recently scored zero stars for adult occupants and two stars for child occupants.
Before you watch the crash test video below, it’s important to note two things – the Triton crashed here doesn’t represent the Triton we get in South Africa, which comes as standard with a host of active and passive safety tech. Secondly, Mitsubishi in Latin America has vowed to rectify the situation and will include at least two airbags in L200 models from early 2020.
