Tata ready to introduce its first Land Rover-based product

For those of you who don’t know, Tata bought Jaguar Land Rover a few years ago, but to date the two companies have been kept far apart.

That’s set to change with the introduction of the Tata Harrier, which will be based on the same platform as the next-generation Range Rover Evoque.

As you can see in the video below, the Harrier looks light it might be a pukka off-roader.

“An incisive beast, the Tata Harrier can cut through any obstacle with verve and vigor, be it water-logged roads or muddy trails, the OMEGARC [Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture] makes sure you march through with ease”, explains the Indian automaker in the latest Harrier teaser.

The Harrier is set to be launched early next year, but other than that, details are scarce. Rumours suggest it will make use of Jaguar Land Rover’s four-cylinder engine line-up, which makes sense seeing as it already uses a Land Rover platform.

Both all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive models will be available.
