Jeep recently revealed the European version of its new Cherokee.
This is great news for South Africa, as we finally get to see the specifications of the models we’ll likely be receiving once Jeep starts selling it on this side of the world.
In terms of styling and interior specification, it’s basically identical to the US version. The exterior design is quite controversial, but on the inside it’s a giant leap forward compared to the model it replaces.
The big news is the inclusion of two diesel models in the UK line-up. It’s a 2,0-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel that can be mated to a manual or automatic gearbox. The six-speed manual variant produces 105kW/350Nm of torque, while the nine-speed automatic pushes the output to 127kW, while the torque figure remains the same.
The top-of-the-line model is equipped with a 3,2-litre Pentastar V6 petrol with 202kW and 315Nm on tap.
