Last year Audi told the world that it was busy developing a new big luxury SUV that’ll be known as the Q8.
Now, we know what you’re thinking… Isn’t the Audi Q7 big enough? Is it really necessary to build a bigger SUV?
It seems the answer is yes. The ultra luxurious SUV may be the next big thing, with Bentley, Lamborghini and Rolls Royce all but confirming their contestants for the currently non-existent segment.
While the rest of the manufacturers mentioned above will make use of biturbo V8s and or petrol hybrid powertrains, Audi, it seems, is going full electric with the Q8.
We’re sure other engine options will be available, but the promise of a full-electric SUV is something we’re quite excited about.
The Q8 electric will likely make use of the powertrain Audi is currently developing with the R8 e-tron project. There’s no official word on the estimated range yet, but by the time it makes its debut, it could travel as far as 600km before a recharge is needed.
The Q8 is expected to make its international debut in 2017.
