After a long wait, the new Nissan Navara (which we’ve already driven in both Australia and in the Kalahari) has arrived in South Africa.

To start off Nissan will be offering three double-cab 4×4 Navara options all fitted with Nissan’s 2.3-litre, dual-turbo diesel engine that delivers 140kW and 450Nm of torque.
The three models are available with the choice of SE and LE trim levels. At a later stage, Nissan will expanded the range to include both 4×4 and 4×2 mid- and entry-level models.
For the moment, the entry-level Navara is the 2.3D SE 4×4 model in manual is priced at R514 900. Next up is the first of the Navaras with the LE trim, with the price of R565 900, while the flagship 2.3D LE 4×4 fitted with the new seven-speed automatic gearbox is priced at R584 900.
These double-cab variants of the new Navara will all come with seven airbags and a touch screen infotainment system. The rear suspension is a coil spring set-up, the load box has a capacity of 1 061 litres and all three double-cab 4×4 Navaras have a braked towing capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes (double that of the Nissan NP300 Hardbody).
The more luxurious LE grade will come with additional luxury and safety features such as Hill Start Assist (HSA), Hill Decent Control (HDC), a reverse camera and reverse sensors.
Nissan claims a combined fuel economy figure of 6.5 L/100 km for the manual models, and 7.0 L/100 km for the automatic.
