Previously Nissan had its Rogue One concept kicking up snow with its specially fitted tracks. Somehow that looked okay, while the new Rogue Trail Warrior not so much…
The vehicle can get away with the ‘military-style’ yellow-tinted headlights and windows and the pixelated ‘camoflauge’, but the tracks just don’t look right (to us anyway). Even elongated tank tracks (like the one on the ‘Peacemaker’ in Mad Max:Fury Road ) would most likely look better and these Dominator tracks fitted by American Track Truck certainly don’t look as balanced as a decent set of off-road tyres. Still, concepts are the stuff of imagination and without them many a good products would never have been discovered.
To fit these 48-inch triangular tracks, the SUV’s suspension and wheel wells have been modified, however, Nissan has left the drivetrain stock standard. So the vehicle is powered by the 127kW 2.5-litre DOHC four cylinder engine that can be found in a regular Rogue.
Other custom gear includes LED lighting, a Warn 4K winch, an ARB Gear Basket on the roof and some cosmetic enhancements like flared wheel arches.
Autoblog have likened the concept to “the ML-class concepts Mercedes-Benz outfitted for the Jurassic Park sequel The Lost World back in the 1990s.” Perhaps the motoring website is correct and in a Jurasic world the Rogue Trail Warrior would be right at home.
The Rogue Trail Warrior will be on display at the 2017 New York Auto Show, along with other versions of the Rogue.
