In 2017 Toyota showcased the FT-4X concept car at the New York Motor Show.
At the time it was nothing more than a concept, but in the years since there have been a number of developments to suggest that Toyota might be working on a Suzuki Jimny competitor.
The most-telling fact is that Toyota will soon start building an all-new SUV at the factory it shares with Mazda in Alabama.
The next piece of information is a name patent Toyota recently filed. The name in question is 4Active, which fits in nicely with what would likely be its bigger sibling, the 4Runner.
We reckon a Jimny rival from Toyota would be fantastic and we surely hope that it’s where all of this is leading.
