We’ve driven the Lexus LX 570 a few times before and while it may have a big lumbering V8, it’s not exactly as fast as you’d expect it to be.
In standard guise its 5,7-litre V8 produces 270kW and 530Nm of torque, but all of this power is weighed down by 2 700kg of Lexus. This means an owner of a R1,2 million LX 570 would be easily embarrassed by a Fiesta ST costing a R1 million less.
World-renowned US tuning operation, Hennessey Performance, noticed this problem and decided to do something about it. The solution to the problem was easy. Add a supercharger and a few Hennessey plaques in and around the car.
With the supercharger in place, the V8 produces 373kW and 713Nm of torque. That’s enough power to get this luxurious leviathan to 100km/h in less than seven seconds. More than enough to take care of those annoying Fiesta STs…
Below is a video showing how the supercharged Lexus fares against the standard car.
