Following a leaked image, Land Rover’s Discovery Vision Concept has been officially unveiled ahead of the its debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show.
The most surprising aspect of the Discovery Vision’s design is how far it has departed from the look of the current-generation Disco. Gone are the boxy shape and hard lines of the current model, replaced with sleek lines similar to that of the new Range Rover Sport and Evoque. There is also a hint of the Ford Explorer thrown in for good measure.
What should be added, though, is that Land Rover is apparently planning a whole range of Disco models – similar to their Range Rover range – so this might just be one model in that line-up. It has been rumoured that the Freelander will become a new baby Disco model, and a recent report states that the company will also be producing a very rugged, off-road oriented version of the Disco that can compete with the Toyota Land Cruiser.
We’ll have to wait for the New York Auto Show to find out exactly what Land Rover is planning for the much-loved Discovery.
