The Ranger is nearing its introduction to the US, which means Ford is slowly starting to brag about it.
Ford is claiming a best-in-class payload capacity as well as best-in-class towing ability, but that’s not the part we’re really interested in.
We’re interested in Ford’s petrol powered model. It’s not a V6 powertrain, but it actually makes more power than some of its V6 rivals.
It’s actually the 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol unit, similar to the engine found in the Focus RS. It produces 200kW and 420Nm of torque and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
There are no official performance figures for it yet, but it’s not hard to imagine this being the fastest bakkie in the small pick-up segment in the US.
