Restomodding is big business in the USA, with companies like Icon, Legacy Overland and Gunther Werks charging huge amounts of money to restore an older car to its former glory.
Recently, Legacy Overland unveiled its latest project, based on the 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40.
Not wanting to wreck the inconic exterior, Legacy kept it basically as is. Obviously, the paint is completely new and to ensure that it will look good for years to come, the body panels, bolts, nuts and brackets were galvanised.
The interior is all-new and modern, but looks old. The seats were wrapped in leather, while a classic radio (with Bluetooth connectivity) was added. The most important luxury item is the inclusion of an air-conditioning unit.
The engine has also been carried over, but the upgrades in this department are quite significant. These include a rebuilt four-speed transmission and transfer case, new Weber carburettor, power steering, disc brakes and an Old Man Emu suspension.
